Expressing extreme personal NEGATIVE emotions (mostly anger or disgust) on public networks targeting someone or just sharing negatives about someone to a large group.
It has become a trend on social networking sites to post updates like, "she was so cruel" (probably after a break up) , "this guy's music sucks, what does he think of himself?" , or indirectly targetting some person through a post like.. never trust a man or a woman/ don't care for someone who never cared for you blah blah blah...
I am not advicing anyone. It's just a general wondering and that is all I have written. I could be wrong too.
Just wondering why such posts come up at all and the following is what I have understood from these:
First of all such posts are mostly emotion-driven and talks about what that person himself/herself is rather than the one they are targetting.
This is the first judgement that comes to my mind when I read them, it could be different for others.
1) It seems quite immature
Well, when I was a kid, we used to tell on other kids inorder to look better in front of our teachers, parents etc. I would not blame the kids because, as the proverb goes, "crying baby gets the milk" worked well then. Also, if you look at it more appropriately, it was mostly done out of emotions. Probably anger, insecurity etc. Not because someone had wronged us.
But being a grown up it just seems too childish to target others in a negative way to hide your own mistakes. What I have failed to understand is how a grown up can still think he would get away with it. I'm sure you will have people who would chime in with you on the same. I don't think why I have to explain the same.
For eg: Criticizing someone's work out of spite (probably because you are not as good) speaks about you, not the work. There is a better way of doing it provided your intentions are good.
Also, in a case where some one has really wronged you, does it seem an appropriate way to express it? I used topost my emotions on social networks long ago and I still wonder how puerile such a behaviour was.
Wouldn't it be better to talk to that person or write it in your personal diary or vent it out to a close friend who would understand your emotions behind it? Well, it's upto you to decide!
2) It's probably a good marketing strategy.
Some people invite others to like some sympathetic notes and publicise their works through them. Highly unprofessional and to me it shows a lack of belief in oneself. Improve yourself professionally and question yourself before you question others about their mistakes.. both personal and professional and then you will realise that most of the mishaps were your fault or could have been avoided by you and not them.
Trying to empathize with others is better than expecting THEM to understand you. Every person has his/ her own battles in their lives. It's not just you who has to fight.
Also, It is a good method for inviting sympathy from the whole world and then hoping to get people to like you.
Yes we do like it when we share our problems/sorrows/sadness with others. Well if you are finding it hard to deal with it, why not consult a psychiatrist instead of forcing the whole world to feel bad for you and then getting a satisfaction by successfully getting people to hate someone or his work or just anything. How long does it last?
3) The true purpose seems to be "self defense" (hiding your true self ,your mistakes, justification for the worst you did and acting nice.. probably to make someone like you)!
The primary reason could be that, the one who expresses knows that he has wronged someone and feels too insecure about the fact that if they don't publicise it themselves, may be their true(disliked) self would be out in the open.
It is generally true in most of the cases, that a person who has wronged someone hunts for others to justify themselves for their misdeeds and they would find a person who either genuinely agrees to what he says(quite rare) or probably just nods along inorder to get something out of it. As per my understanding if you are mature enough, you would deal with it yourself and not try and justify the mistakes you did. Correct yourself first.
4) It could also be because the person is afraid to express it directly to someone he/she wants to talk to.
Scared to express it to the right person but happy to publicise it to the whole world?
5) Probably the only way to get people to like you.
This is the funniest one. Are they posting this so that they get too many likes on their posts? Why defame another person to get people to like you?
There is rule that one should belive what I wrote. But this is my understand from the whole scenario and correct me if I am wrong.
This is a general wondering.. no one targeted whatsoever.. Have seen many posts of this kind.. just wondering why its written publicly when you should be talking to THAT person directly. Just an analysis from the ubiquitous thing happening around. Try replacing it with something positive. I am sure every person is creative and has many better things to do.
